Riverbend ride

Robin South competed in the two-day competition with Sylvia, and Linda Snow competed in the one-day competition with her Arabian gelding, Poetry. We don’t have very many pics from this event, as the battery in my camera died on the first day. Due to the remoteness of the venue, getting another battery just wasn’t an option. I’ll be better prepared from now on!

Linda and Poetry made a great showing for their first competitive ride, both placing first in the One-day Novice Division. Linda was little surprised at how much GO 19-year-old Poe had when he arrived back at camp on Saturday. She rode him Safety the next day, and he still had energy to spare.

Robin and Sylvia did well in the two-day Novice Division, with Robin taking 3rd place Horsemanship and Sylvia taking 2nd Condition. Sylvia also took home the Breed Award for the Novice Division. It was a good day!

Martin Dawson and Chad Bowman came along as Safety riders and camp support. They were a great help and got in a lot of riding. Martin rode Guimauve on both days, and this was a big ride for both of them. They are aspiring competitors, and they learned a great deal about how the whole thing works. Chad and Flash got in a lot of gaiting, and Flash is really coming along at this skill. Chad was impressed with how well Flash was able to keep up with the older gaited horses during the ride. Of course, as always, they prepared great camp dinners and helped keep things flowing smoothly.
