Bridlewood was built in 1967 by Gene and Gail Chambers as a playground for Gail’s passion for Tennessee Walking Horses. Gail showed extensively for many years and holds numerous ribbons as a testament to her skill and the beauty of her horses. When Gail retired from showing, Bridlewood was leased out as a boarding facility, and though Gene and Gail retained ownership, management of the barn changed hands several times over the next two decades. In 2002, the barn was closed down due to issues of misuse and negligence by the lessee. Bridlewood remained closed for two years, until it was reopened in June of 2004 by Tammie Cannon and Becky Bell as a place to go play with their own horses on the weekends. They opened up a few stalls for boarding to help defray the expenses involved in their hobby. Robin South came on the scene in October of 2004 when she needed a place to board Sylvia, an Arabian mare she had purchased to share with her then-5-year-old daughter, Tessa. During 2005, Robin took on many of the duties involved in the day-to-day operations of the barn in partnership with the incumbent management. In November of 2005, Robin introduced her friend Melody MacNamara to a beautiful Paint gelding named Doc who was being trained by Robin’s mother, Linda Snow. Melody promptly fell in love, and she purchased Doc a week later. It didn’t take long for us to decide it was time to take our passion for horses further than the back yard. We began negotiations with Bridlewood’s management and owners and signed an agreement allowing us to assume control of Bridlewood on February 1, 2006. We knew the facility had immense potential and immediately set out making repairs and improvements with the intention of re-opening the barn as a fully-operational boarding facility. Bridlewood is still a work-in-progress. As of Oct 1, 2007, we have 26 stalls fully restored. We’ve made improvements to the electric fencing system and the barn common areas. The bathroom has all new fixtures, and the office has been furnished as a comfortable sitting area. The process is a labor-of-love guided by practical business savvy. We’ve committed ourselves to maintaining a reputation for integrity and dependability and to continually expand our knowledge and experience to better serve our clients. We hope you’ll take the time to explore our site and find out a little more about what we have to offer. If you decide our facility could be the right place for you and your horse(s), please contact us for a visit. We’d love to introduce you to our Bridlewood family.
