Colt 45 casual day show

Talk about “short notice”! Colby called Robin at 1:00 and said, “There’s a show at 4:00. Wanna go?” And that was the beginning of a real scramble to get four pasture-dirty horses ready. But it was good fun.

This was the first show experience for Stephen Owens, as well as Crusader and Ronan. It was a good place to get them all started, as Colt 45 is a member of the Alabama Open Horsemans Association, and the show was rather small.

Stephen and Crusader took fourth in their halter class; due to the short notice, Robin and Gu took “casual” a little further than the judges probably intended, and Gu just managed to stir up a lot of dust in their halter class; Tessa and Sylvia took fourth in their walk/trot class; Colby and Ronan took ribbons in English and Western classes; Robin and Crusader were just happy Bubba managed not run into the fence while he was looking at all the pretty lights. All in all, it was a good experience. We’ll join Colt 45 for more shows next year.
