Memorial Day 2006

Several members of the Bridlewood community camped out at the Whittemore farm, along with about 70 other riders, during Memorial Day weekend. Kathy Jones and Chad Bowman took their TWHs, Traveler and Flash. Martin Dawson and Tessa South took their Arabian mares, Guimauve and Sylvia, and Robin South took Quarter/Paint, Doc. Martin couldn’t make it during the day on Saturday, so Melody came along for the day and rode Guimauve.

The trails at Whittemore are challenging and varied. On top of that, we chose to ride with the gaited horse group. Boy, were we moving! Tessa was a trooper, and she and Sylvia kept up the pace very well. We had some nice breaks and the scenery was absolutely beautiful. We saw some familiar faces from other rides and met some great new friends. The live band on Saturday night was awesome and, as usual, Janice and Ricky Whittemore were wonderful hosts, and we had a blast.

We’ll definitely be attending more rides with the Whittemores in the future—maybe we’ll even plan a Bridlewood and Friends weekend in the fall!
